Smoked Chicken Wings Recipe

Delicious Smoked Chicken Wings

Put these smoked chicken wings on your preferred cooker when you want to impress your visitors, and they'll be ready in an hour! You can choose the glaze that you prefer after we tried two different ones.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Chicken wings
  • Olive oil
  • Kosmo's Q SPG Rub
Glaze #1 - Peach

Glaze #2 - Cherry

  • Cherry Habanero BBQ Sauce
  • Cherry Apple Habanero Rib Glaze

(Optional)

THE PREP

From beginning to end, this recipe should take around an hour. Having said that, if you're the organised type, you can take extra steps to prepare:

Mix 3/4 cup of Chicken Soak with 1/2 gallon (64 oz) of water about 6 hours prior to cooking. Shake firmly. Add the wings, then soak them for six hours. After that, thoroughly rinse off any excess.

Seasoned Chicken Wings

In either case, when you're ready to proceed, get a bowl big enough to accommodate all the wings. Apply olive oil, then SPG, to season. Ensure that the rub is applied everywhere!

THE COOK

Start heating up your cooker while you wait! Install the grill grates but leave the rods out if you're using a Pit Barrel, as we did, as this will enable it to achieve a greater temperature.

Place the chicken wings on your cooker once they are prepared, then secure the lid. After 15 to 20 minutes, turn them over, then let them continue to cook.

Kosmos Q Rib Glazes

Make the glaze of your choice while the wings are cooking! You can use whatever you like, but we combined 1 cup of BBQ sauce with 1/4 cup of rib glaze (see the ingredients list above!). Mix thoroughly, then reheat the resulting sauce before using it on the chicken.

 THE PAYOFF

Start testing the internal temperature after another 30 to 40 minutes of cooking. 165°F (79°C) is where you want to be. When the desired temperature is reached, remove the wings from the cooker and glaze them with your preferred BBQ sauce.

Last but not least, return the chicken wings to the cooker for a little period of time to allow the glaze to set. It should only take 5 minutes at a hot temperature.
