Turn on the motor and let the spit rotisserie do its job. As the meat rotates, it will cook evenly on all sides. Baste the meat with your favourite marinade - we highly recommend a 50:50 mixture of olive oil and lemon juice every 30 minutes to keep your meat moist and flavorful. Note: This is mainly used for gyros and lamb. If you need more recipe ideas check out our free learning centre!
-
Cook the meat until it reaches the desired temperature, we highly recommend a digital instant-read thermometer to check for doneness. Different types of meat require different cooking times, so be sure to do some research beforehand.
III. Safety and Maintenance
- Spit roasting can be a fun and rewarding cooking technique, but it's important to take safety precautions when using a spit rotisserie. Make sure the meat is securely fastened to the spit and that the spit is properly attached to the grill or open fire.
- You are cooking with live fire - so a good quality pair of heatproof gloves are essential.
-
After you're done cooking, let the spit rotisserie cool down completely before cleaning it. Remove any remaining food debris and clean the spit, forks, and motor with warm, soapy water. Store the spit rotisserie in a dry, cool place.
